SPARK is responding to the needs of Syrian and local students and young business owners to realise the business ideas they are dreaming about and developing or expanding their existing businesses.
The Entrepreneurship and Business Development Activities (EBDA: إبدأ – the Arabic word for ‘Begin’) programme is supported by De Nationale Postcode Loterij and is aimed at creating a conducive environment for young refugee entrepreneurs to access relevant entrepreneurship skills, knowledge, values and attitudes for their businesses. The programme aims to unlock a new generation of youth that are educated, professionally skilled and inspirational leaders of the future. By building a cadre of trained, civic-minded, intellectual young people, they can guide their families and communities towards cohesion and prosperity.
The programme, which targets Syrian refugees and vulnerable youth from hosting countries in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, offers solutions to generate new businesses and develop/expand existing businesses. It also promises to bring together refugees and members of host communities by providing opportunities to exchange business ideas and realise them together. The programme offers a package of entrepreneurship trainings that respond appropriately and adequately to the labour markets and business needs of young people.
