The first EU regional economic day event was sucesfully organised in Pristina by the University of Prishtina (UP) and ATA on the topic “European Integration and Economic Development in the SEE region”. A full report on this event can be downloaded here.
The day gravitated around the importance of regional stability as a prerequisite for EU integration and economic development in the Western Balkan countries.
The two day programme consisted of six interactive workshops, a plenary session with speeches. In addition, a social programme was organised with a classic music concert, speeches by Mr. Soren Jessen Petersen as well as EU officials, and a TV debate.
A significant achievement of the EU day was the creation of a platform for local, regional and international students, professors and experts to discuss their visions and expectations concerning EU integration and economic development in South East Europe. Visions that go beyond national interest, which is also what Robert Schumann, the founder of the idea of a united Europe was dreaming about when he, on 9 May, 1950 presented, his idea as indispensable to the safeguarding of peaceful relations in Europe.
