SPARK, Tridos Facet and INHolland University of Applied Sciences organised an international conference on entrepreneurship development on 29 and 30 October. The conference "Do entrepreneurs need support? The myths and merits of entrepreneurship education and business creation", discussed critically entrepreneurship development methods and impact.
Both Entrepreneurship education and Business creation programmes have received growing attention for the impact they can have on sustainable development. Yet the achievements of these programs are regularly debated. SPARK, Triodos Facet and INHolland University of Applied Sciences argue that much is to be learned from entrepreneurship development programmes in all parts of the world. Whether these are conducted in developing, transitional or developed countries, it is the entrepreneur who is challenged daily.During the conference, these topics were analysed critically with more than 160 participants from 33 nations from across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The conference aimed to enhance the interaction between practitioners, policy makers, entrepreneurs and researchers in the fields of Entrepreneurship Education and Business Creation. Over 75% of the participants indicated that the eD2009 conference exceeded their expectations. Not only that they found the event very inspiring, but they were also very satisfied the networking opportunities and exchange of knowledge and ides. About 60% of the participants valued the quality of the conference as high and more than a fourth of all considered it as very high.
Networking was reported to be quite successful for most of the participants. 74% have contacted already their new leads in the first week following the conference. 67% considered it useful to keep in touch with all participants in a platform created especially for the eD2009 event. Last but not least, almost 90% of all respondents saw an added value of visiting the next conference in 2010.
