Spark develops education and entrepreneurship so that young and ambitious people are empowered to lead their post-conflict society into prosperity. We build the capacity of local economic and educational institutions so they can empower their own populations. The organisation actively mobilises support for this within Dutch Society, especially with economic and educational institutions.

International College Mitrovica Communication Intern PDF Print E-mail
SPARK is a young, dynamic development NGO with a head office in Amsterdam and field-operation in most SEE countries. SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship, so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their pos-conflict society into prosperity. SPARK is achieving this goal by organising Summer Universities and helping young entrepreneurs to start-up their own business by means of business plan competitions, skills training and advice.

In 2009, an International College for Business Studies will be established in Mitrovica (ICM), aiming to improve the dire economic prospects youth face. The College will provide students with the necessary practical skills to become high-skilled professionals in local businesses. Diplomas will be awarded under a double degree system with a European partner institution (to be selected by tender). The college will offer 2-year vocational diplomas, with a possibility for a further 1-2 year top-up programme option leading to a Bachelor degree.

We are currently looking for a full-time ICM Communications intern. You will be based at our Pristina office and will preferably start as soon as possible. The ICM Communication intern has proven experience in developing communication strategies. He/she is all-round person, knowledgeable of latest developments in communication strategies and interested or affiliated to the Western Balkan countries.


Main tasks & responsibilities
  • Liaise with an external company to develop & execute a PR campaign for the ICM
  • Liaise with an external company to develop a brand identity for ICM (logo, house-style, pay-off)
  • Ensure the appropriate use of ICM communication tools
  • Assist in website design, maintenance and editing and ensure regular updating of news items on the ICM website.
  • Monitor correct external communication and presentation in accordance with ICM's brand book in web pages, flyers, promotional and fundraising materials etc. published by Spark/ICM
Requirements & assets
  • Relevant degree in communication
  • Good inter-cultural communication and social skills
  • Good oral and written language skills in English
  • Proven interest in communication and media
  • Interest in development cooperation

  • 350 Euro netto per month at full time engagement. Travel to Kosovo, plus local accommodation and 10 euro per diem are provided.
