Drago Zečević worked for a state-owned company in the Port of Bar. Due to privatization in the near future he was unclear if his job would still be available and decided to make a career change before it was forced on him. "I believe that it is not good to wait for something to happen," he says. "Instead, you should plan for it." Drago had two choices: he could plan to work in the newly private company (if he kept his job), or he could start his own business. "I decided to start a business and began brainstorming ideas related to the IT sector."
Drago identified the possibility in Montenegro of establishing an company that would offer comprehensive IT services, such as support internet portals, security, system's protection, software advice and IT solutions. "There have been other companies that have offered comparable services, but they did not provide the entire package," he says. Drago also plans to provide an option allowing companies to monitor their businesses via the internet. "Most companies in Montenegro are unaware of the advantages of IT or of the threats or dangers of not using it. Many are also unaware of the necessity of licensed software, or the concept of intellectual property. So, I want to educate them regarding technology."
With these ideas, he decided to participate in BSC Bar's Business Plan Competition of 2008. His plan won the first place in the second round of the Business Plan Competition. He requested a micro credit of € 10,000 and recently began the process of registering his company. "I am looking forward to moving into the business incubator when it opens." He does not anticipate making a profit in the first year, and plans to run the business by himself during that time, but to later hire four more employees.
About BSC Bar, Drago says, "I have never met an organization like this that supports and educates young people. It does not just give them the opportunity to try, but provides them with skills, lets them start, monitors development, advises of opportunities that arise in its own network. It is a great pleasure to cooperate with the BSC Bar staff, they helped in all that I needed. The key of success lies in the people."
