“If I’d just heard about it, I would think it was a fairy tale.”
Boris Bajić is non-conventional. With long dark braids, pierced ears, and a broad smile that glints with the studs in his teeth, he comments, "Many people have a prejudice about my appearance, but I like that the staff here is young and understands me - there is no prejudice here."
Boris studied graphic design and had worked in the field, for a firm and on a freelance basis, for eight years, when his work was recommended to BSC Bar. The BSC was looking for a good graphic designer, and after seeing Boris' work, suggested he might be interested in entering the Business Plan Competition. "I had never tried something like this," Boris says. "But I thought, if you don't start something yourself, you will be poor all your life; if you work for someone else, you'll be a slave all your life."
Boris' idea placed in the top five in the Business Idea Competition, and he won a consulting voucher. Eventually, his plan won third place in the Business Plan Competition. "A great thing about this project is that young people can easily compete," he says. "I am in the process of registering my business now. There are other graphic designers in Bar. Most were not educated in the field, but are just people with artistic skills. This is really a new field, and I have experience in it, so it is a niche." Until Boris launches his company, "I am still working for my boss and for myself privately, and I will still cooperate with my current boss in the future."
Boris continues, smiling, "Whatever I needed, the BSC staff was always there - everything was professional and relaxed, always with a smile, always a good attitude. This organization is great. Before, I thought that no one gives you something for free. It's new and strange after living here for 20 years. If I'd just heard about it, I would think it was a fairy tale - but it's true, someone to help you stand on your feet. I have told all of my friends about it."
