Unfortunately, a number of deadlines for providing required information and endorsements related to the re-establishment of the project consortium and the co-financing have not been met. This obliged the Embassy to decide to terminate funding. This decision was taken in close consultation with SPARK.

The ISUM was the largest academic youth gathering in the Southeast European region. More than 12.000 students were interested to take part in the project and 2.000 students had the chance to participate in the fourth and last edition in 2008.

Over the last five years, ISUM has become a brand in Macedonia. 15.000 students from Macedonia have followed the high quality courses organized by SPARK. Its four successful editions since the summer of 2005 and the pilot edition in the winter of 2005 became an integrated part of the academic and student life at the four participating Universities.

ISUM gathered the most talented and motivated students from all over Europe in one place, giving these students the unique opportunity to enhance their academic education and build on their intellectual potential which resulted in issuing around 1.500 certificates to successful students.

Both the Embassy and SPARK would like to compliment partners for their cooperation and for producing numerous high quality courses appreciated by many students. It is unfortunate that the cooperation among local partners has not developed into a sustainable structure and funding resources that could have ensured continuation in 2009 and further.

SPARK continues activities in supporting the young population by numerous other projects such as the Pristina Summer University , Mitrovica Summer University and through the Business Start-Up Centers .
