International Summer University Macedonia 2008 Registration PDF Print E-mail
ISUM 2008 Will be organised from 07 until 20 July 2008. All confirmed
students need to register at the ISUM Helpdesk when they arrive. The
helpdesk is located in the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality (on macedonian: “Fakultet za Turizam i Ugostitelstvo”), address: ‘Kej Marshal Tito’ № 95, 6000 Ohrid.

At the Helpdesk, you will receive your ISUM ID card and a welcome
package with all relevant further information about the ISUM, the city
of Ohrid, etc. After your registration, you will be guided to your
accommodation. On Saturday 5 July, the helpdesk will be open from 08:00
- 20:00. On Sunday 6 July from 08.00 - 20.00.

If you arrive outside these times or experience any problems during your
travels, please call the SPARK emergency number: +389 72 57 00 76.

Thank you for confirming your participation in ISUM 2008! We have received your contract and secured your place in the course. In this e-mail, we would like to provide you with further information about the International Summer University Macedonia, concerning:

  • arrival information;
  • financial information.

 

Please read this e-mail carefully and save it for future reference!

 

 

Traveling to Ohrid

When coming from abroad, you can reach Ohrid best through Skopje. There are several air carriers, it is best to check prices online. Possible carries include: Czech Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Jat Airlines, MALEV Hungarian Airlines, KLM, and Adria Airways. More info about flight schedule on http://www.airports.com.mk/

 

Another, cheaper, option is to travel by Eurolines bus to Skopje. They have regular bus services between larger cities throughout Europe.

There are also regular train connections between European cities and Skopje. Please check your (national) train company.

 

From Skopje you can take a bus to Ohrid. The price of a bus ticket Skopje – Ohrid is about 15Euro.There are also bus lines to Ohrid directly from Istanbul, Vienna, Munich (and some other cities in Germany), Zagreb, Sarajevo, Tirana, etc. Please check at the travel agencies in your cities.

 

Arriving via Skopje

Arriving in Skopje, it is best to take a bus to Ohrid. There are several buses per day, which will cost you around 15 Euros for a one-way ticket. For timetable of the departures visit the website of Skopje Bus Station www.sas.com.mk .

 

The bus station is situated beneath the railway station in Skopje. You can buy a ticket at the counters and then enter the bus platform. There are ATMs at the bus station serving most international bankcards (Cirrus, Maestro, etc). The approximate currency exchange rate is: 1 Euro = 60 Macedonian Denar. Please check the current exchange rate before your departure to Macedonia!

 

You can also take a taxi from Skopje to Ohrid, which should cost you between 80 and 100 euros. Make sure you ask for the price before you get in and always look for the company with radio station and TAXI BOARD on the car with a phone number to the taxi central eg(151 91, 151 92, 15193, 15161 etc).

 

Arrival at Ohrid:

Students from Macedonia are expected to arrive in Ohrid on Sunday 6 July and Scholarship and Self financing students are expected to arrive on Saturday 5 or Sunday 6 July.

 

Registration and Helpdesk:

Students who will stay at the Dormitory in Ohrid during ISUM are expected to arrive in Ohrid on Sunday 6 July. Upon arrival in Ohrid please report to the ISUM Helpdesk at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality (on macedonian: “Fakultet za Turizam i Ugostitelstvo”), address: ‘Kej Marshal Tito’ № 95, 6000 Ohrid.

After the main entrance of the building, on the left side you will see the office of the Helpdesk. Also all courses will be held at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality.

At the Helpdesk, you will receive your ISUM ID Card and an information package. Students who are accommodated at the dormitory will receive directions to the accommodation.

On 5 and 6 July, the Helpdesk will be open from 08:00 until 20:00. If you arrive outside this time or experience any problem during your travel, please call the SPARK emergency number: +389 (0) 72 57 00 76.

Students who are from Ohrid and Struga are not accommodated and they have to register at the Helpdesk on Sunday or on Monday morning between 08:00 – 09:30.

Students who are from Struga will not receive accommodation in first 2 days of ISUM (i.e. Monday and Tuesday) but if there are places available in the dormitory they will be offered accommodation in the Dormitory starting from Wednesday 9 july.

 

Registration at the ISUM Helpdesk for students from Macedonia will be with the personal ID card (licna karta).

 

NOTE: Students that are from Ohrid and Struga will not receive accommodation even they applied or were approved for accommodation.

 

 

Student dormitory:

Students from Ohrid and Struga will not receive accommodation. Students from outside Ohrid and Struga will be accommodated at State Students Dormitory “Nikola Karev” Ohrid , Address: “Vancho Nikoleski” b.b. – 6000 Ohrid.

Dormitory is located in the city centre, only 10 minutes walking distance from the Helpdesk and only 20 meters from the lake. All ISUM students will be accommodated there. The accommodation will be in 3 or 4 bed rooms. Every room has a toilet. Our Logistic Officers at the helpdesk will explain you how to get to the Student Dormitory. Please contact the SPARK emergency phone number +389 (0) 72 57 00 76 in case of problems of any kind.

 

Financial information:

Scholarship students will receive their food vouchers and travel reimbursement for ISUM at the financial desk. Self-financing students will have to pay 150 Euros for their accommodation (including food) during the first week of ISUM at the financial desk. At the same time, all Scholarship and International students have to pay 50 Euros participation fee.

Students from outside Ohrid who are accommodated at the dormitory in Ohrid during ISUM receive a one-time travel stipend covering the cost of one return bus ticket from and to their home.

 

Students from Struga who will not be accommodated and will travel to and from Ohrid daily by public transport (bus) will be reimbursed daily for their travel ticket.

 

The following travel reimbursement will be paid upon provision of valid receipts:

Struga to Ohrid and back : 100 den.

 

 

Very important: KEEP ALL RECEIPTS of your travel expenses to prove that you actually made your trip. Without receipts, we cannot make any travel reimbursements.

 

Other:

The Summer University will start with an Opening Ceremony, which will be held on Monday 7 July 2008 from 10:00-11:15 at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Amphitheatre. The first classes will take place on Monday from 13:00 to17:00.

 

Important:

- Please bring one passport-size photo for your ISUM ID card!

-  Please send us your estimated arrival time at Ohrid by e-mail (ISUM@spark-online.org).

-  Bring light jacket with you as the nights are a bit colder.

-  More practical information, class schedules, information about social activities etc. will be provided in the Welcome Pack that you will receive upon arrival at the ISUM.
